sunday morning finally came on our chicago trip! we checked out of the hotel after breakfast and headed back to the airport to pick up joe. then we all went to the lego discovery center. it was pretty cool! they had a huge jungle display of life sized animals and even a little roller coaster ride!
they had a mini factory where the kids could see the steps that go into making the blocks. the 'scientist' was very enthusiastic and was really having fun with the kids.
lots of buttons to push and things that moved and made noise. the kids were enthralled!
the top floor had different building stations. they had ramps set up to test out cars and tons of blocks to create anything you wanted!

they also had the big foam legos in a play area. so daddy and the kids built a fort with the kids inside and then broke out.
the kids took a 'master class' where they built a little set with a lego master builder. it wasn't as cool as we were expecting it to be, but they still had fun.
jonny is really into star wars now, so he was amazed at this display!
they did have a lot of full sized models of different characters out, like sponge bob, hagrid, different animals, santa, and even indiana jones! we also saw a 4D movie about the medieval times. the kids loved that! grandma had never been to a 4D movie before, so the misty water and wind were a surprise to her! the actual store that was attached was a bit disappointing because it didn't have anything different than any other lego store or even walmart for that matter. i wish they had had some specialty bricks, sets, and memorabilia for fun. oh well. we still had a really fun time.
