one of my favorite people was in town for the opening of the new elephant crossing exhibit at the zoo. she has been playing gigs with her friend at the zoo for several years, and they were asked back for this special day. they dressed as elephants as part of the celebration!
the local news cameras were there to document the event, and the announcer asked jessy what she thought about the elephant's new home, but she was camera shy and wouldn't talk! bummer! she could have been on TV!
i normally don't let her in the petting zoo, but i caved this once. thinking about all the germs gives me the heebies, but i toughed it out this time!
this wallaby was really close to the path. there was even one there with a joey in her pouch!
they had a large mural that the kids could color.
they had a bunch of these decorated elephants throughout the zoo to celebrate. jess had to climb on practically all of them, but this was her favorite!
