we headed out one night after school to the ix indoor amusement park by the airport. it was so much fun! i haven't been since i was a teenager, and i think it's more fun now with the kids than it was then.
anyway... the first thing we did was look at the live animals. they had a ton of big cats; tigers, snow tigers, lions, even a li-ger (yes, it's got a bit of a mane and stripes!)
the kids got to feed 2 snow tigers a piece of meat, and we watched the others roam their cages. then we sat for a show. the trainer was really funny! he did a great job with the show. i guess they are all from a rescue farm that his family owns. that does ease my mind a bit about the cruelty of having these magnificent animals all caged up and on display. jonny was absolutely beside himself because it was so cool to him! prolly the best live animal show i've seen too!

we went on a bunch of rides too. here are the kids coming out of a fun house.
we did some really fun rides! joe doesn't care too much for the carnival rides, so i got to ride most of them with the kids. we saw the 'yo-yo' ride, the big swings that twirl around, and convinced jessy to ride it. she was laughing and having a good time at first, then it lifted higher and started going faster, and she totally flipped out!!! she was clinging for dear life to the swing and screaming and crying! i was behind her and tried to lean forward enough to touch her. so the whole ride i was holding her around her chest and trying to yell to her that she was safe. needless to say, she didn't ride any more rides until we found the kiddie section, complete with a mini 'yo-yo' which she mastered fearlessly!
jonny on the other hand was having a blast with all the rides. we went on so many turning, twisting, swining, head-spinning rides, i lost track. then, a little before they were going to close, he picked a big one for his last ride. he was actually a tiny bit too short for the ride, but the guy let us on. it's one that you're locking into a small cage thing, and it's on the end of a big beam and it goes around the axis and the car itself spins, and it goes all directions, forward and backward! it was a long ride! it's actually one of my favorites, but jonny was starting to feel sick! there was no way we could have him stop the ride, so i did my best to easy jonny until it ended. he made it through, and promptly declared that the last ride of the night!
we also did an awesome 3D fun house. most of it was your standard fun house type stuff, but with black lighting to make the 3D effects pop better. then, towards the end, there was a rotating shaft with a walkway through the middle. now the walkway was stationary, but the shaft was painted with crazy designs and in the black light it looks wacky!! and it was rotating so quickly that it made you dizzy before you even started. we started out on the path and it makes you feel like you're falling and stumble! it totally plays with your mind!! the kids didn't care for it, i had to pick up jessy and carry her to the end (which was hard enough in itself!). but joe and i had fun going back and forth along the path a few times till we started to feel dizzy too.
it was such a fun night! we will definitely make it a tradition in the future!
