goodbye summer

the day we finally registered jonny for school, i realized that summer would officially be over for us the very next day and we hadn't done anything to celebrate! so we went straight out to the zoo, and it was a beautiful day, not too hot or cold and perfectly sunny! normally at the zoo, i go a little crazy about seeing everything, and trying to keep moving, but this time i let the kids set the pace and actually get to play on all the climbing stations that we usually walk really quickly past!


he's not really strangling her, he's holding her up since there wasn't a lot of space to sit down on the ledge.


in the tree house of the australian adventure area. there's a big snake slide that twists inside of the 'tree house' and they went down it like 6 times!

i hope so with such big ears like the kangaroos!


we've never played on this big rope climbing thing before, so i let them spend a little extra time here. jonny of course, went straight to the highest point and stayed there for a while, but he also climbed up and down a few times and was swinging from the ropes.


she never went up too high, but climbed all the way around and tried swinging and stuff.


outside of the wolf enclosure, i think this is supposed to be 'balto'.


the giraffes are always a must see on zoo trips. they were all eating this time, so we could see their black tongues. even the baby was trying to eat, but had to jump a little to reach the feeding bucket.
