the chicago field museum

we took one day and went to the field museum. if you're ever in chicago, you should go! it's a HUGE museum, and they have so many different areas, we did not budget enough time to see it all! and i had no idea how big the place really was, so we missed some things and rushed through some just to keep moving. we'll have to make it back there soon.

the museum had a water exhibit that we went into. the entrance was a wall of mist. there was a black light shinning on it, for effect, but the picture turned out better this way. they thought it was the coolest thing!


recycle art... luckily they love it, and it seems that everywhere we go, they have stuff out!


jonny and me with 'sue'. grandma got jonny a dinosaur book with the story of sue and a section of plaster with 'bones' inside for them to excavate. we worked on that and read in preparation for our visit. he was so excited to see 'her' but once we got there, the enthusiasm went away.


under normal circumstances, i wouldn't recommend children sitting so close to a pirate, but this one seemed pretty harmless. they had a big special exhibit on pirates, so they had statues everywhere, even some coming down from the ceiling. jonny bought some pirate gold at the gift shop too, i think that was his favorite part!
