our buckeye tree all glistening with snow and ice last night.
i guess i really am a cleveland at heart, because life here in columbus has shut down for 2 (two) days for a snow storm that landed about 6" on the ground. granted, there was a nice layer of ice packed in the middle, but still, not that bad.
jonny didn't have school yesterday, and i didn't think anything about school being cancelled today, so off we went to the bus stop. we got there and were told that school was cancelled again! i had no idea!
so we headed back home! i still had to run a few errands, so the kids went to their friend's house down the street and i went out. here's what the street looked like- 24 hours AFTER the snow stopped falling:

i don't know where the problem lies, the city not owning ANY snowplows, or the drivers are part of a union and they only plow streets that lead to their house, or everyone has chains on their tires and they don't care that there are 6 inches of snow on the street.
so i went to the first store, totally rediculous that nothing was plowed! and as i headed to my second stop, the roads suddenly became clear, right about when i left my county.
MIRACLE! the streets were totally clear, traffic was moving normally. granted i didn't see any snowplows, but that's probably because they had already done their job YESTERDAY so they were at home sipping hot cocoa.
stop #2 done successfully, no problems. driving home:

as soon as i entered my county, the streets were covered. litterally, if you drew a line from the sign on the road for the county, it went from clear street to 6 inches of snow.
totally ridiculous!

AMEN TO THAT!!! Ft. Wayne is the EXACT same way... everything shuts down for a couple inches of snow. I will never understand that!?
oh my gosh. thats hilarious!! downtown cleveland doesn't really believe in plowing either... but they don't shut down for even a foot of snow... they figure everyone around here can figure it out!
