community day

the whole second grade held a huge community day. i signed up to help out, and let me tell you, it was such a fun day! the kids transformed their hall into a big town. each room had different kinds of stores and things to do, like hot chocolate store, jewelry store, a bank, post office, and jonny's helped design the putt putt golf course in his room. there was even a bus that ran up and down the hallways, and you had to 'buy' a pass and wait for the bus at the bus stops. the kids really got into the role play of a community (i did too!)! they were given real money and had to budget their spending. there were so many little lessons going on, in such diverse and creative ways, the kids had no clue they were actually learning real things! after eating lunch at one of a few different 'restaurants', they went to the 'movie theater' and got to pick which movie they wanted to see. the teachers did such a great job with all the projects and it was a huge success!!

as i was walking through the hall one time, i stopped to glance at the recognition boards that were up and saw jonny was there (on the bottom part)! congrats buddy! even though you don't like school all that much, i'm glad you're still doing a good job!
