nelson's ledges

one hot day this summer, we all headed out to nelson's ledges, a state park nearby that has amazing rock formations and caves! we didn't mind the heat so much after going onto the paths since the rocks kept everything nice and cool! i carried a pack with us filled with water, and it was almost all gone by the time we got back to the cars! it took us a little while to actually get going, eating a picnic lunch on the rocks just inside the woods, and then jess took a tumble and we had to bandage her knee up before starting out. we will definitely go back for more exploring!

ahh... boys!

we all headed down this one crevice that opened up into a spring pool. then we headed up the treacherous opposite side and got to a beautiful dead end, before returning down to the pool to find our way out. the kids tested the water and it was cold! and you could see the sweat steaming off our backs with the temperature change in the cave!

the kids loved finding tight squeezes where joe and i couldn't fit!

HELP!!! we're in jungle- jail!

taking a little break!

peek-a-boo!
