alum creek state park

over the weekend we went camping at the alum creek state park with our ward, and it was a lot of fun.  the park is only like 30 min from our house, and it is a really nice area!  we set up camp and had some yummy campfire hotdogs, then ventured off to find the marina.  we rented a paddle boat, which was really fun, mostly for the kids, who had fun climbing all over it and into the water!  we didn't get far in the hour we were on the water, but the kids loved it any way and joe and i got a nice leg workout!

back at the campsite we had some s'mores and a some other fun snacks, and off to bed.  in the morning we took a few nature walks and met some more people in the ward.  then we headed out and stopped at the olentangy indian caves that we saw a sign for.  

it was a fun little complex.  we went into the caves, the kids weren't even scared, and we went down every path and all the little nooks.  they had all sorts of things to do, a little petting zoo (sheep, goats, and donkeys), a playground, kid sized 'town' with little shops and things, and we panned for gold!  we struck it rich, too, the kids got a few arrowheads, quartz, other gems i don't know, and a even GOLD (in the form of a $1 coin)!  

it was a really fun weekend!  i love being in a new place and acting like a tourist!
